The argument continues. I say that, because this isn't the first time this subject has come up in our community. I think it's come up 2 or 3 times in the past couple of years actually. On an emotional level, I have no opinion. I grew up here and we don't even call it Robert E. Lee High. We call it Midland Lee. Maybe that could be what we change it to if it changes? I do however have an opinion on the fiscal and safety for our children side of things. Our kids have suffered enough from lack of funding to this district. Changing the name, the signs, the logos, the band uniforms, the sports uniforms, and all the other things that go along with a name change is going to cost money that could be used to benefit the kids. At the end of the day, that's my only concern. I think we adults are getting so caught up in the politics of everything that we have lost sight of the most important question. What's best for the kids? Maybe a name change would be a good thing. Maybe it is for the best. I see both sides. I just don't think now, in the midst of everything that is going on, this is what we should be focusing on.

WE HAVE A GLOBAL PANDEMIC PEOPLE! This is definitely something that should be looked at, but now? We don't even know if our kids are going to be able to go back to school! Let's deal with that issue first, along with the expenses that go along with keeping our kids PHYSICALLY safe and healthy. I'm not trying to downplay the issue. Yes, it should be discussed, but right now I'm a lot more worried about this upcoming fall and if this virus will come back with a vengeance along with strengthened symptoms. As a parent of a child who currently goes to Lee, let's worry about keeping our children alive and take what little time we have to prepare the school itself for Covid, rather than waste precious prep time changing logos on the side of a building. I hate to take this to a dark place but, if your kid is in the hospital on a respirator,  I doubt you'll be thinking about what name is on the side of their school. That's just my opinion.
