December Birthdays in Texas: The Struggle No One Talks About
Having a December birthday anywhere can feel like a raw deal, but Texans know the struggle hits just a little differently.
Perhaps it's because people in the Lone Star State go big- whether it's big lights, big gifts, or big gatherings.
Usually, that means by the time your December birthday rolls around, everyone’s already stretched thin, emotionally and financially.

Are Texans With December Birthdays Cheated?
If you were born anytime between December 1st and New Year’s Eve, you probably know that familiar sting: the dreaded combo gift.
People who have birthdays outside of December typically receive a birthday gift and later a Christmas gift. However, people born in December are usually only given one gift to compensate for both occasions.
Texans take pride in hospitality, but December pushes even the most generous families to their budgeting limits. Christmas gifts, holiday travel, office parties, church events, tamale season, everything costs money, and everything happens at once.
So when a birthday falls smack in the middle of the chaos, it often gets treated like an afterthought.
Many December-born Texans joke that they didn’t even realize birthday parties were “supposed” to have themes or full guest lists until they were adults.

Many December-born Texans will tell you they wouldn’t mind just once having a birthday that didn’t involve tinsel, lights, or someone apologizing because they “spent too much on Christmas.”
Being a December baby in Texas means learning to shine a little brighter, even when the Christmas lights try to outdo you.
However, at the end of the day, gifts are gifts and shouldn't be expectations. Still, it really does seem a little unfair.
