Mastering The Art Of Borrowing Tools Among Local Workers
In Midland-Odessa, we are surrounded by hard-working blue-collar men and women who know all about what it takes to put in a hard day's work. In fact, our entire region is based on the stereotype of being a big industrial town.
And what makes Industrial InnerWorks successful? Tools, of course!

Can I Borrow a Tool?
You've worked hard to get yourself a respectable amount of tools, whether they are high-end or budget-friendly. They're yours! Any self-respecting blue-collar worker should have their own.
Right?
While that may be in a perfect world, it oftentimes is not the case. Lending out tools is a practice that not a lot of people are comfortable with.
Especially if they have invested a large amount of money in getting them.
Unspoken Etiquette of Borrowing Tools
If you choose to lend out tools, you need to be aware of the rules and etiquette involved. This can easily determine whether or not you are allowed to borrow them again in the future.
1.) Don't Ask
People feel some type of way when it comes to lending tools, so rule #1 is don't ask. Best practice is to get your own.
2.) If You Need It, Don't Ask Unless You Know the Person You're Borrowing From
If you cannot finish a job without a tool, if you are forced to ask, make sure you know the person from whom you are borrowing. Lending out tools is a matter of trust, and it's difficult to lend a tool to someone you don't know.
3.) Return It Cleaner Than You Got It
You absolutely MUST return the tool, and it better be cleaner than when you got it. Returning a tool damaged or filthy is disrespectful.
4.) Be Appreciative
Lending a tool is a big deal to some people. Express your gratitude and perhaps a story on what you did with it or how it helped.
