Incoming Storm Spanning Across the Permian Basin

The region is bracing for significant weather changes. Freezing rain is expected in the coming hours, mixed with ice and potential snowfall.

Travel is strongly discouraged in the Midland-Odessa area due to the anticipated ice buildup on roadways.

Extreme cold is on the way, with dangerous temperatures and wind chills as low as 10 degrees below zero predicted for the Permian Basin for the majority of the weekend.

Residents are urged to bring their outdoor animals inside for their safety.  Weather conditions can have disastrous consequences if they are left outside and unattended.

Additionally, the freezing temperatures pose a threat to pipes and plumbing systems. There is an increased risk of ruptures or breaks, as temperatures are expected to remain below freezing through the start of next week.
