Time For This Girl To Upgrade-Suggestions?

I've heard people say that tablets and cell phones stop working properly when cell phone companies want you to spend money on a new phone...get into a new contract, upgrade, etc. I'm not going to lie, I believe it. I'm not one to keep up with the latest and greatest technology but I'm currently in a situation where my phone will no longer hold charge, no matter which charger I use. I've had to survive on super low battery lately and my OCD cannot handle it! Time for an upgrade. Smh. 

So I come to those of you who know alot more about this stuff than I do hopefully. By the way, I am an Android user. I tried to go back to an Iphone years ago but I missed my Android too much. My phone is the one in the photo, so I'm looking for Samsung ideas or what you think I would love! Help a girl out, it's time for me to get a new phone. (:
