I recently moved to Midland-Odessa and have only been a resident for a few months now.  Ramping up my move from San Antonio, I dove deep into looking up what exactly is there to do in Midland-Odessa in terms of "fun".  Upon first moving here, I even asked a few locals and the answer was always the same, "nothing".

Granted, moving from a major metropolitan area to a smaller region, I experienced a little bit of culture shock.  It wasn't much, but it was there.  I believe what helped me was doing my due diligence about the area before I moved.

Yes, there is significantly less things to do in the area versus a bigger city, but that doesn't mean there is nothing to do here.  Perspective here may be different from that of someone who was born and raised here, but this is coming from someone who is new to the area.

Here are a few things I have found to do.  This may range from family-friendly to more adult things, but still, things to do.

Bars & Restaurants

  • 87th Lounge
  • The Tailgate Midland
  • Opal's Table
  • The Hemingway
  • Cork N Pig Tavern
  • Leesco's
  • Clear Spring Restaurant
  • Liberty Bar
  • Whitehouse Meat Market
  • La Bodega Mexican Restaurant

Family and Entertainment

  • Cinergy
  • Legends Fun Center
  • The Garage Arcade
  • Music City Mall Skating Rink
  • West Texas BMX Track
  • Altitude Trampoline Park
  • Ratliff Ranch Golf

History and Museums

  • George Bush Family Home
  • Stonehenge Replica
  • Permian Basin Petrolium Museam
  • Odessa Meteor Crater
  • CAF Airpower Museum
  • Ellen Noel Art Museum
  • Presidential Archives and Leadership Library

Granted, there is still much more than that.  Having said that, this gives a nice set of options on things to do in the area.
