It is officially the time of year for 'fish Fridays.' Myself along with so many others in the 432 will be on the hunt for the next few Fridays during Lent to refrain from eating meat. Truly one of my favorite times of the year for several reasons, but I happen to love seafood, specifically catfish. My father made the best when I was little, hands-down but I'm constantly searching for something close to what dad used to make. As far as restaurants I've tried, these are the ones I personally like the most.

RESTAURANTS IN MIDLAND/ODESSA FOR GREAT CATFISH:

Catfish & Co. Odessa-2338 E 8th St.

Big Daddy's Grill and Bar Odessa-1121 E. 42nd st.-great catfish, fries, tartar sauce and hello the hushpuppies! I actually had to get my catfish fix recently even before Lent began.

Clear Springs Restaurant Midland-5707 Andrews Hwy. My favorite dish here? The 'little buddy.' A combo of their 'famous fried catfish,' plus fried jumbo shrimp with all the fixins' cole slaw, fries, pinto beans and hushpuppies. Unbelievably good!

Golden Chick-Leo and Rebecca were on hand for the grand opening of 1 of the many locations throughout Midland/Odessa a few years back. When asked if we wanted to try anything, I quickly responded with catfish! OMG this is about as close to dad's catfish as I can get. Good stuff, totally recommend!
