Wow! That's all I can say after what I witnessed today. I'm out and about running errands, doing the typical "mommy things." It's afterschool, so of course I have my boys in tow. I have to run by the store to get a few things so there I go, against their will, dragging them along with me....

My thing is, in our house, I am outnumbered. My 2 boys and my better half, so I refuse, no matter where we go, to open a door. I will stand back and let one of my guys open the door for me and they do, no complaints. I am doing what I can, as a mother, to teach my boys manners and how to be respectful. Trying to teach them to be polite... yes ma'am, no ma'am, please and thank you, doing my best to raise little gentlemen. So picture us today walking into a store, I walk in first as the door has been opened for me and I turn back to see my oldest holding the door open for a lady walking in behind me. I smile to myself. A proud moment, you know the feeling. Until... the woman completely ignores my child and opens the opposite door, walks in without a Thank You, a Hello or any sort of acknowledgement. Really? Wow!! Took everything I had not to go off on this rude woman. But I tell my son Thank You, good job and let's hope she wasn't paying attention, or was in a hurry or something...on the inside I'm thinking of the choice words I could have used on this person. Unbelievable! When I find myself in this same situation I make it clear to the person how grateful I am and make sure they know I appreciate their kind gesture. Common courtesy. Is it too much to ask? Not the first time it's happened but today I felt the need to blog about it. Manners. Plain and simple, let's not forget them.
