Local Golfer Scores Hole-in-One, Drives Away in 2026 Camry
Golf remains a popular pastime in Midland-Odessa, providing residents with an opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, scenic fairways, and West Texas weather.
But for one local golfer, a recent round turned into a life-changing moment.

In September 2025, Alexis Armendariz, a 21-year-old resident of Midland-Odessa, created a stir among spectators and organizers by achieving a hole-in-one on a 175-yard par 3 during a sponsored event.
The winning shot was made possible through the Knights of Columbus Hole-in-One Sponsorship, which was supported by Lithia Toyota of Odessa.
The prize?
They offered a brand-new 2026 Toyota Camry XSE as the grand prize to any golfer who could achieve a hole-in-one.
I was pretty excited, that was my first hole-in-one - Alexis Armendariz
In golf, what is more impressive than sinking a hole-in-one? Some golfers go their entire lives and never achieve such greatness.
However, what makes Alexis's accomplishment even more remarkable is the fact that he has only been playing the sport for six months.
Plans on What's Next
Alexis plans to keep the Camry and gift his current vehicle to his mother, a gesture that reflects the tight-knit family values often seen in West Texas.
With a free, fully loaded 2026 Toyota Camry XSE, who could blame him?
After several weeks of red tape and dealing with the hoops that come along with winning such a prize, he finally took delivery of the vehicle at Lithia Toyota of Odessa.
