History of Carnivals

Surprisingly, carnivals have been around for a VERY long time.  It is speculated that carnivals first appeared in ancient Mediterranean festivals, where they eventually evolved into what it is today. It is said to be a mixture of public gatherings in celebration of the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring, mixed in with some religious aspects.

Early on in America's history, it was practically flooded with people from all walks of life from all over the world.  It was said that early European Americans brought carnival culture to the United States, where it was embraced with open arms.

Modern Carnivals

Granted, no two festivals or carnivals are exactly the same.  Differences in rides, attractions, games, and especially the food all vary.  However, despite the differences, for the most part, some of the same food can be found at most carnivals regardless of location.
