With the end of school near, the scramble is on to find things for kids to do for the summer. As a mother of 3, I know all too well how important it is to keep them busy. You will either start to hear, 'mom I'm bored' way too soon or they will spend all summer on their tablets, computers and playing video games. Big nope in our house right there!

The City of Odessa Parks and Rec Department has released their Movies in the Park schedule, an annual event. Families will have the opportunity to catch seven different movies for free at different parks around the city of Odessa.

It is time to lock down several Fridays over the course of the summer. Each family is encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets and snacks will be available as concessions will be sold for each of the movie nights.

  1. May 7th Sherwood Park-Toy Story 4
  2. May 21st San Jacinto Park-Aladdin
  3. June 4th UTPB Park-Frozen II
  4. June 18th Woodson Park-The Croods
  5. July 16th Lawndale Park-Sonic the Hedgehog
  6. July 30th McKinney Park-Tom & Jerry
  7. August 6th Sherwood Park-Trolls World Tour

If you have never been a part of Movies in the Park before, this may be the summer you start the tradition with your kids, grandkids, grab the neighborhood kids and give it a try. What a great way to spend some of your Friday nights in the summer, under the stars for a great family movie! Movies begin once it becomes dark.
