Seperate Bank Accounts But She Wants Access To His Account

Leo and Rebecca Buzz Question - Been married for almost 2 years and we decided way back to have separate bank accounts. It's worked out okay, but the other day I threw out that I wanted ACCESS to his account. I think it's only right. I'm going to give him access to mine. He did not like the idea and said if we were giving each other access than we might as well just have a JOINT bank account so it defeats the purpose. What's getting me is how opposed he is to it? Shouldn't I have access to his account?
