Popular Texas Stores That Filed Bankruptcy and Closed This Year

With online shopping becoming increasingly more popular over the years, unfortunately, we have seen some of our beloved department stores and childhood shop spots file chapter 11 and close down. According to oberlo.com, 'one out of every three people you see around you is an online shopper.'

I get it - it's me and I am she. Since the pandemic, it has become so easy to just hit up Amazon, Shein, or a few other online-only shopping outlets and hit add to cart. And as a result, some of the best places we have shopped our whole lives are suffering.

But let's be real, no one wants to shop anymore. It is just too much of an inconvenience to walk into a store, the mall, a grocery, and shop til you drop. Those days are just about done. Society has become so lazy, myself included. You may not have even realized it, but several big-name department stores have begun to shut down in cities across the nation and even here locally.

POPULAR RETAILERS THAT HAVE CLOSED STORES IN TEXAS:

JCPenney filed bankruptcy and has closed stores in Texas, Lucky for us, we have not lost our stores in both Midland and Odessa...yet.

Bed Bath & Beyond filed chapter 11, and our Midland store will soon be replaced by something Burlington Coat Factory.

Party City is a new one. Don't be surprised if we see some closings of select stores soon. According to thestreet.com, 

a Chapter 11 filing takes some time to play out, with some companies like Party City.

Tuesday Morning in Odessa is gone. This retail chain has moved to Chapter 7 liquidation.

Keep in mind some of these stores have closed in bigger cities, but not here locally yet. Let's hope we don't lose our JCPenney; this one is part of my childhood and I'm just not quite ready to part with it yet.
