School will be out before you know it. It is almost that time of year that we try to figure out how to entertain the kids for a couple of summer months. Before you ship them off with the grandparents for the summer, just know that the Petroleum Museum in Midland is ready to help with some great summer camps they will be offering and registration is currently open for these camps.

According to the OA, the camps will take place in June and July and will begin with STEAM sprouts mini camps for 4 & 5 year olds. The STEAM camp will be offered on May 26 & 27th and June 2 & 3rd.

For kids a little older, ages 6-8, Full STEAM ahead will be offered which 'encourages students to find creative ways to integrate art into STEM. Students will engage in topics such as music, forces, motion, energy and more.' This particular camp for this age group will be held from 9 am til noon June 9th thru the 11th.

Movie Maker Mondays is sure to be loads of fun and is set to begin on June 14th and run through July 26th. There will be hands on experiments, engineering challenges and games from 1 until 5 p.m. for littles age 6-12.

Other camps to be offered at the Petroleum Museum are:

  • To Infinity and Beyond
  • Splash into Science
  • The Lego Mini Masters
  • 3D Adventures

The cut-off age for most of the camps offered is typically 12 years of age and for the STEAM Sprouts mini-camps, 16 kids will be allowed in each session. (for the other camps, double the amount of students will be allowed)
