Federal Shutdown Forces Odessa College to Cancel U.S. Marine Band Concert
In an unexpected move, Odessa College has canceled the U.S. Marine Band concert, originally scheduled for Friday, October 24.
The cancellation, prompted by federal budget gridlock, means the band is unable to perform officially until funding is restored.

What the Event Would Have Been
Originally scheduled to be held at First Baptist Church Odessa, the concert was to mark the Marine Band’s arrival in the Permian Basin as part of their 2025 National Concert Tour, a highlight in the region’s cultural calendar.
With Congress adjourning before approving appropriation bills, the U.S. Marine Band has been forced into a performance moratorium, and the Odessa show cannot proceed.
“We are truly disappointed that the Marine Band will be unable to perform in Odessa this month,” -John Carroll, Director of Bands at Odessa College.
The college expresses gratitude to the Marine Band for their prompt communication and extends thanks to community members who had planned to attend.
What If I Already Purchased a Ticket?
Registered ticket holders will receive notifications via TicketLeap regarding the cancellation and any refund or future rescheduling options.
The college encourages patience in hopes that the event will eventually be rescheduled. However, refund options will be available for those who want a refund.
