BEING ABLE TO UNDERSTAND LAWS

Texas is passing House Bill 4504 which will make criminal procedure easier for everyone to understand not just lawyers. The bill will update and simplify the state's criminal procedure code. The laws will stay the same but will be easier to understand.

PERSONAL DATA CONRTOL

House Bill 4 will strengthen the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act starting January 1st. To simplify it, you can change your browser/phone settings so you won't get ads that make it feel like someone is spying on you. You can turn off data sales, targeted ads, and personal data profiling. Companies can even get penalized if they don't follow the rules.

KEEPING SCHOOLS FUNDED

Senate Bill 2 will help schools when local tax revenue drops. This comes into play when property tax revenues aren't enough. Schools can apply for extra state funding to keep the budget stable when the economy isn't.

NO MORE VEHICLE INSPECTIONS

You have probably already heard everyone talking about this one. House Bill 3297 stops yearly safety inspections for non-commercial cars in the Lone Star State. This bill will start January 1st but some counties will still have to have an emissions test. If you live in any of these counties you will need an emissions test: Bexar, Brazoria, Collin, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Ellis, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Johnson, Kaufman, Montgomery, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, Travis, and Williamson.
