You Will Never Guess The Most Rainfall Ever Recorded in Midland
This week Midland-Odessa is expected to get a good amount of rainfall. The rain is much needed in the area but all the locals know the cities do not do well with any kind of moisture. Flooding happens almost instantly in Midland and Odessa and causes mayhem throughout the cities.

Odessa is the worst when it comes to water collecting. Major streets and intersections flood almost instantly and takes days for the flooding to drain. The street Dixie is known to be avoided when it rains, especially at the intersection on 42nd Street. The city almost shuts down when heavy rainfall comes to the area but it isn't uncommon to see cars stranded in high waters either.
Midland isn't quite as bad as Odessa when it comes to flooding. Even though it's not quite as bad as Odessa, it still has plenty of flooding issues.
I live off of Midland Drive which is a drainage street. The year I experienced my first heavy rainfall in the city, I got stuck on Midland Drive near Wall Street. My Kia Optima was no match for the waters being sucked into the drainage ditch in that area. I had to pull into the nearest business and wait out the water for hours.
HEAVIEST RECORDED RAINFALL IN MIDLAND
Midland is not known for rainfall. According to the National Weather Service, these are the years known for the heaviest rainfall in the Tall City. As someone who has lived in Midland for 10 years, I was shocked!
1. 32.13 inches in 1986
2. 30.33 inches in 1941
3. 27.42 inches in 1932
4. 23.46 inches in 1991
5. 23.24 inches in 1975
6. 22.63 inches in 2015
7. 22.45 inches in 2004
8. 22.19 inches in 1949
9. 21.38 inches in 1992
10. 21.27 inches in 2007
Now I don't know if 2025 will be the year to break the record but the year is still young!
