One of the back to school checklist items to cross off your list is school lunch. Have you put money in your little ones lunch account so they can get their eat on? Check! Except that there is no need this school year for many surrounding areas. In case you haven't heard....

the U.S. Department of Agriculture made the announcement recently that certain schools will be able to serve meals to all students....free of charge. In the past, free and reduced lunches were only available to those who qualified, been there, done that as a young single mom back in the day. No shame in it.

But this year, many school districts will offer a nutritious meal at lunchtime to our kids. Thus is the case for MISD and ECISD, free breakfast and lunch will be provided to all school children.

According to the USDA,

As part of President Joe Biden’s plan to reopen schools safely nationwide, the department’s National School Lunch Program Seamless Summer Option is being expanded beyond the summertime and through the 2021-22 school year.

This has been implemented as a result of last year's pandemic and the fact that many school district's across the nation will be headed to the classroom for the first time in well over a year. And because of the financial strain many have suffered due to the pandemic as well. For more information you can definitely contact your child's school or visit your school's website.
