Is Having That Loud Exhaust On Your Ride Illegal In Texas?

There are a handful of things in this world that I don't mind being loud. Let me give you a couple of examples, babies, either laughing or crying loudly, don't bother me because I have 3 children of my own, been there and done that. Music, for obvious reasons. Crank it up, especially when I'm in the zone, cleaning, cooking, or doing laundry. Movies when I'm at Cinergy. That surround sound is something else when you're watching a movie, especially a good one, action-packed, there's nothing like it!

But one thing I do NOT like loud? For me personally, it is just downright annoying. Vehicles. Loud cars or trucks. Why is modifying the exhaust a thing? Maybe I'm getting up there in age because I have a hard time believing teenage me would have had a problem with my crush rolling up in a loud, fast car!

But when I'm minding my business at a red light and someone with a loud exhaust rolls up next to me, you can guarantee I am rolling my eyes. The other day it happened and I literally said to myself, 'is that even legal?' So I looked it up and the answer is yes! And no.

Apparently, unlike several other states,

Texas does not have a very well-defined exhaust noise law. Now, this doesn't necessarily mean you can modify your exhaust as loud as you want. A police officer could still cite you depending on how loud but when you do take your vehicle in for inspection, the noise levels are not checked.

So in a nutshell I can get over it because folks are going to do with their ride what they want. I guess I should just pop in my Airpods as 'loud' as I would like and mind my own business. lol
