Are Casinos And Sports Betting About To Be Legalized In Texas?
Currently, there are about 3 casinos in the State of Texas. Because currently, Casinos and Sports Betting are illegal in Texas. That may change soon!
• A BILL HAS JUST BEEN INTRODUCED TO LEGALIZE CASINOS IN TEXAS!
State Senator Carol Alverado from Houston, just introduced a bill with a constitutional amendment to legalize casinos and sports betting. According to KRIS 6 News...
The amendment would create the Texas Gaming Commission to be the regulatory agency. It would establish four casino resorts in major Texas cities that have over two million people. The bill specifies there are different levels to gaming licenses and a lower license would allow gambling in smaller cities across Texas.
• SPORTS BETTING WOULD ALSO BE LEGALIZED
Sports betting IS CURRENTLY not legal in the state of Texas unless you are using an offshore site. Texas has not legalized domestic sports betting like DraftKings or BetMGM while in the state of Texas. That could change with the passing of this bill as well.
• JUST LIKE THE TEXAS LOTTERY?
The bill introduced language that would use the revenue from such Casinos and Sports Betting towards education and public safety. Currently, money from Texas Lottery funds supplement public education.
• WHEN COULD THIS HAPPEN?
According to the article, the earliest you could see something on a ballot is the November 2023 election. The next legislative session begins on Jan. 10, 2023. And, though that may seem a bit away, it is next year, and the movement for legalized casinos and sport betting in Texas may just have begun.
