If you didn't eat at this old-school restaurant growing up, did you even have a childhood? I am telling you right now, once a week my parents did some grocery shopping in Odessa, or took me to a movie and this was a must every.single.time. Friday's or Saturday's were made for Long John Silver's!

It was either my mother's or father's favorite and quickly became mine because we ate there so often. Not only did I love the fish and fries but more importantly what they were known for was the hushpuppies! Every now and then, mom and dad would let me ask for extra hushpuppies and that was a treat.

Even better, who remembers the crunchy little crumbles?

I truly do not know to this day exactly what they are called but they were and still are so good. The sad thing is I had not eaten at a Long John Silvers in years. For no good reason, no excuse, I just hadn't been. So we went recently and it brought back some amazing childhood memories. Once I stepped inside I realized not a thing has changed and that is awesome! I even saw the little booth we sat at when we would go when I was a little girl.

And the bell! Did you get to ring the bell as you were walking out like I did?
