Not just here in Texas but all over the United States we are used to having access to a store around every corner. With the holiday season approaching this is when it is most convenient.

I would like to say I plan my plans but that is not true. When we first got our home in Midland, I decided to host my first Thanksgiving in our new place. I made a list of all the items I needed and literally checked it twice. I went to my nearest grocery store, bought everything on the list, and added some last-minute items.

Fast forward to Thanksgiving day, I had everything cooked and ready to serve. The family showed up and I put everything out so we could all feast. As I was watching the family serve themselves, my Mom asked where the gravy was. To my horror, with all my planning I forgot one of the most important Turkey Day foods. I was able to run to the closest store but that may not be the case for a lot of Texans this year.

WALMART CLOSING FOR THANKSGIVING

One constant we have to rely on in Texas for our last-minute holiday items is Walmart but that won't be the case this year. They confirmed all their stores will close for Turkey Day this year. Walmart said the closure is so the employees can relax and enjoy the holiday with their families.

While this sounds like a major inconvenience for most of us, let's take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Everyone wants to be home for the holidays and now all Walmart workers will be.
