The Story Of The Two-Story Texas Whataburger By The Ocean
Corpus Christi, Texas -- Just about everyone who lives in Texas is well aware of the cult-like following of the Whataburger brand. It is such a big deal that people tend to get angry or upset when you say another burger chain is better than the famous orange and white stripes that make up the franchise.

Whataburger By The Bay
In 1999, Whataburger wanted to commemorate the company's 50th anniversary and opened a two-story restaurant that was dubbed "Whataburger By The Bay". This was meant to be the flagship location for the franchise and spans over 6,000 square feet and includes an elevator, floor-to-ceiling windows, outdoor seating, and a spectacular view of the Corpus Christi Bay.
Renovations and Updates
In 2024, the company launched significant renovations and upgrades to the aging restaurant, which include design and modern upgrades. The goal was to bring the already impressive restaurant up to modern standards in which would give patrons a unique dining experience.
Location and Hours Of Operation
This location is located at 121 N. Shoreline Blvd, Corpus Christi, Texas, and is in operation 24 hours a day. It has become a fan favorite of both locals and tourists alike.
Personal Experience
I have family in Corpus Christi, plus I used to work at one of the radio stations in Corpus many years ago, so I have personally visited this location. Granted, the last time I visited was roughly 3 am after a fun Saturday night club hopping with friends, however, I still remember it vividly. The combination of the sheer size of the restaurant and the ocean views makes this a very unique fast food experience. I highly recommend anyone visiting Corpus Christi or the general area to stop by to give it a try.
