Midland-Odessa, Texas, loves their salsa. Just about everyone knows that the economy has hit many people pretty hard in recent years. It appears as if everything is getting more expensive with what seems like no relief in sight.  Despite how the economy is going, one thing usually remains true: unlimited salsa.

When visiting a Mexican restaurant, it's customary that many of them leave complimentary chips and salsa to accommodate your meal. Well, there are some restaurants that are choosing to do away with unlimited free salsa. In fact, some are pivoting and transitioning into giving patrons prepackaged salsa. A notion that has many people around Texas upset.  One disgruntled person on Facebook said:

That doesn't allow us to smell the salsa to determine how old it is. -Facebook Commenter

Another commenter on Facebook voiced their disdain by saying:

I hate this, find another way to reduce cost.  I want my salsa the way it's always been. -Facebook Commenter

There were plenty of other examples of people who were not pleased by prepackaged salsa.

As much as this angered many people, from the restaurant's perspective, this makes fiscal sense.  It is unknown how much restaurants pay for salsa, which may or may not include store-bought salsa or the ingredients to make fresh salsa. To combat a rising economy, doing whatever you can to cut costs is a good idea from a business standpoint.  However, that does not mean people have to like it.
