When it comes to camping, there is no one-size-fits-all scenario. Meaning that there are different variants of what some may consider camping.  For example, some people prefer to camp in a tent, while others might choose to sleep in a cabin or an RV. Some enjoy cooking their meals over an open fire, while others opt for a gas stove. Ultimately, it depends on each individual's definition of what "camping" means to them.  However, the basic end usually means the same.

1.) Food and Water

This is a given, being how humans need food and water to survive.  However, it is important not to take too many perishable items with you if you plan on camping for an extended amount of time.

2.) Shelter and Sleeping Gear

Whether you plan on sleeping under the stars or inside a cabin, planning out where and how you will be sleeping is essential.  If you do plan on sleeping outdoors, then it is best to sleep off the ground if possible.  A cot or an inflatable mattress would work wonders in this situation.

3.) Communication With Outside World

Regardless of where you camp, it's a good idea to have some kind of communication with the outside world in case of an emergency.  For most people, a cell phone will suffice.  However, cell service isn't always available in rural areas.  In that case, a satellite phone could possibly save your life.

4.) Tools and Safety

Keeping flashlights and even a multitool handy could be exceedingly helpful.  You never know what kind of situation can heppen that you will encounter, so being prepared with proper tools is a great idea. In terms of safety, a knife or a firearm of some kind can also defend you if the need arises.

Camping can be great fun and build fond memories that can last a lifetime.  It's important to be fully prepared so you can enjoy the moment with your family or friends.
