Discover the Exciting New Poké Chain Transforming Odessa’s Food Scene
While many chains have been shutting their doors, there is still some light in 2025. Odessa has experienced some major closures like Party City and Big Lots. This has left some of the residents wondering what to expect this year.

While many are worried about some of their favorite places shutting their doors, others are excited about the new opportunities coming to the city. Change is hard but can bring in something most didn't realize they were missing.
Odessa is getting a new poké spot soon! There isn't many options when it comes to poké in the Permian Basin so this is a welcomed change.
POKÉMOTO HAWAIIAN POKE
The Pokémoto franchise was started by founder Thomas Nguyen in New Haven, CT in 2017. While Thomas was living in Hawaii he fell in love with traditional Hawaiin poké. He realized there wasn't a poké market in the New England area, so he decided to gamble on a poké bowl company. Thomas chose a vacant spot across from Yale University and the first Pokémoto shop was born.
WHAT IS POKÉ?
Poké is a Hawaiian cuisine. Traditionally, it consists of diced fish served over rice or as an appetizer.
Poké bowl companies have modernized the cuisine. You can choose from tofu, salmon, chicken, and shrimp, with strong influences from Japanese and Korean cuisine. It's like deconstructed sushi, with your choice of proteins, mix-ins, toppings, crunches, and your favorite sauces.
WHEN WILL POKÉMOTO OPEN IN ODESSA?
Pokémoto in Odessa is expected to open in the spring or early summer of 2025. Its location is 4303 Faudree Rd, STE 155.
