Odessa, Texas and the Street Racing Problem
Since moving to Odessa, Texas, I cannot help but notice the loud sounds of street racing in the distance. Engines revving up along with the sound of tires screeching happens so often that I notice it almost every day.

Concerns
Apparently, from what I have heard this is nothing new to the area. Street racers in recent years have been a growing issue with local police. Despite the dangers or the legal consequences, it is still very much alive in Odessa. So much in fact, that the growing concerns have prompted the city to take action by holding special town hall meetings to try and combat it.
Odessa police are not amused by the people who continue to race on the streets of Odessa. In recent years they have intensified their efforts to put a stop to it once and for all. However, to no avail, it is still something that goes on every day.
Legal Street Racing
One genius alternative for street racing that can host anyone who wants to legally race their high-performance vehicle in a safe controlled environment is the Penwell Knights Raceway. Located roughly 15 miles West of Odessa, the raceway provides a dedicated place for people to race. It also holds events such as dragsters, funny cars, and other races aside from locals.
It's important to remember that street racing is both dangerous and illegal. If you want to show off your racing chops, we suggest doing so legally. The repercussions if caught are not worth it.
