I think it is safe to say we have all been scammed at one point or another or maybe know someone who has. Pyramid schemes, taking advantage of the elderly, idiots calling you on the phone trying to sell you something, or tell you you need to pay them money 'or else this that and the other will happen.'  Studies show that 1 in 10 adults will fall victim to a scam every year in the U.S.

That just plain sucks if you ask me and in my opinion, most scams are more obvious than others. I swear once a week I get a text that my Amazon or Netflix account is about to be canceled followed by a link to click to 'fix' my account so this does not happen. NOPE! Not today homie, I know you want to steal my info. I just hit the delete button.

But when I read about these 3 things that are considered scams, I thought wow, I guess they are, and I never realized it.

3 SCAMS THAT MOST TEXANS DON'T REALIZE THEY ARE FALLING FOR:

1. making friends with people you don't actually know- interacting with spam messages, like the 1 I mentioned above that I get all the time or through social media. If someone you do not know tries to be your friend, don't do it unless you can confirm they are a real person. i.e. a friend of a friend or maybe someone you don't remember from your past trying to reach out.

2. grocery stores crossing out the 'original' price on something- then putting the discount or lower price on top of it. Whatever! That was the original price, to begin with. Don't get scammed into buying something you may not even need just because you think it is on sale.

3. the add a tip line at the end of EVERYTHING- why is this a thing these days when it never was before. Checking out at some places and the tip line pops up, wait a minute, you're just checking me out, why do you need a tip?
