Texans live and breathe for their Costco. For as long as I can remember, people from the Permian Basin have had no issue traveling to Lubbock to get their Costco fix. Soon they won't have to because Midland is getting one and this will be the store everyone is talking about.

LARGEST COSTCO IN TEXAS

Midland will be home to the largest Costco in Texas.  Currently, there are 38 Costco stores in Texas, but the one in Midland will take the title as the largest with a 180,000-square-foot facility. It will be located at the intersection of State Highway 191 and 158.

Originally this project was brought up in 2019 but when the pandemic hit, everything was put on hold until December 10th when they finally broke ground. The original plans projected the store to open in August 2026 but now it is set as early as June 2025.

THE IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY

Not only will Costco bring the shopping experience everyone has been waiting for but it will bring jobs to our community. The warehouse giant is also known to help and support local charities within the communities they call home. Costco prides itself on catering to what each local community needs most.

Now Costco has required the city to extend public services in that part of West Midland. The sky is the limit with the expansion further west. Hopefully, this will be the start of expansion that will feed into the community. Whether it is businesses or housing, we can all agree that it will benefit the Permian Basin for the better.
