‘Landman’ Highlights Odessa, Texas Bikini-Wearing Baristas
Just about everyone in Odessa, Texas, knows about the Paramount smash hit Landman. The show's premise follows Tommy Norris, the operations VP of a highly successful oil company based in the Permian Basin.

TV Viewers Introduction to Texas' Bikini-Wearing Baristas
Early on in the show, the characters stop by a local coffee shop where the female baristas wear bikinis as they serve patrons. The scene was widely popular (for obvious reasons), and it made people who do not live in the area ask if that is an actual thing in Odessa. Well, yes. It is!
I went to one of these types of establishments to see it for myself and how it differs from the TV show.
'Landman's' Inspiration for Its Texas' Bikini-Wearing Baristas Location
It has been said that Landman show creator Taylor Sheridan was inspired to write the show from the inspiration he got from the Boomtown podcast. In addition, bikini-wearing coffee shops were a topic that was discussed on the podcast, and Sheridan included it in the series.
Boomtown Babes is not the only establishment with this type of gimmick in the Permian Basin. However, it has been said and presumed to be the most popular.
Upon my arrival, I was greeted by a young, attractive, and very friendly barista named Joy, who was serving coffee all while wearing a bikini. It appears strikingly similar to the coffee scene in the show. I can see the appeal that many of the patrons have for this type of business.
So, in case you or anyone who has seen the show wondered if these types of coffee shops existed, the answer is yes. And yes, on any given morning, the lines for a hot cup of Joe are exceedingly long, but I am going to assume many of the patrons don't mind the wait.
