End of an Era: Joann Fabrics to Close Doors in Odessa, Texas

Odessa is taking another hit with another tore closing its doors.

So many retail stores have already shut their doors in 2025. The Permian Basin has managed to avoid a lot of closures but we can't always dodge the bullet.

Now one of our favorite fabric and craft stores will no longer be a part of Odessa.

Joann Fabrics Closing All Locations

Joann's is usually a one-stop shop for crafting needs but has filed Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. The fabric and craft store will close around 500 stores nationwide. This includes 17 stores in Texas. Believe it or not, this is the second time in two years the chain has filed for bankruptcy.

The big question is will the location in Odessa close with the rest of the Texas stores? Unfortunately, the answer is yes.

Joann's website said this decision was made by analyzing all store's performances in the company to determine which stores would stay.
