Tonight is the night to party it up (responsibly) and ring in the New Year with friend's and family. If you're going to use some liquid courage as you step into 2016, here are some tips to not spend January 1 with a hangover.

  • The most obvious thing to do is not to over drink. Not only does this help you avoid a hangover, but you certainly don't want to drive home drunk. PLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!
  • Eating food while you drink is a must. While eating while you drink helps, it's important to have food in your stomach BEFORE you start to help absorb some of that alcohol and help prevent an upset stomach.
  • Drink water while you drink. Not only will this dilute all that alcohol, but helps you not get dehydrated which is a main cause of those insane headaches the next day.
  • Take some ibuprofen before and after you start drinking to lessen that headache. I'd avoid aspirin and alcohol can mess up your stomach and taking Tylenol could seriously mess up your liver with alcohol in your system.
  • Despite what you've seen in the movies, drinking a beer when you wake up the morning after drinking doesn't help. It just delays you recovering from it.
  • In my house the morning on New Year's Day you could hit up some menudo and that always seems to help! lol

Do you have any "hangover cures" that have worked for you? Tell us about them in the comments.
