How Much Snow Will Texas Get This Winter?
Even though Texas is still in its Fall era winter is right around the corner.
I'm in West Texas, and it still feels like summer on some days. Some cold fronts have hit the area, but it doesn't take but a few days to heat back up to the 70s. Now that I am talking about it, by the end of this week, it should hit the low 80s!
The winter season officially starts on December 21st but that doesn't mean anything to Texas. When I was a kid this announcement of winter always confused me. I would hear people say winter is officially here but I was still playing outside without a jacket and the sun never went away. Of course, I got older and finally understood seasons and climates. Even though I understood Texas could go from having every season in a week to a desert for months, I still wanted a white Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I'm a summer girlie through and through but still wouldn't mind at least one good snowfall a year.
WILL TEXAS GET SNOW THIS WINTER?
The Farmers Almanac has predicted a warm winter for Texas this year. Temperatures will be above average for most of the state.
Even with a warm winter in the books for the Lone Star State, we could look forward to a decent snowstorm before the winter season is over. Early February is predicted to bring a snowstorm with up to 6 inches in the forecast.
This may seem like nothing to people in the northern states. Snowy weather can cause a state-wide shutdown here in Texas and we all know how well Texans prepare for it. And don't get me started on how West Texans survive the cold, winter days.
