Governor Abbott Announces End To Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation Program

Time to get back to work! Governor Greg Abbott announced yesterday that the extra 'supplement income' some Texans have been receiving because of the COVID pandemic is coming to an end beginning on June 26th. Apparently many throughout our great state have been receiving an extra $300 weekly. Governor Abbott has announced that Texas will opt out of further compensation. 

According to Governor Abbott,

'the number of job openings in Texas is almost identical to the number of Texans who are receiving unemployment benefits...'

In other words, there are plenty of jobs available now so Texans can get out and start looking if they haven't already. Governor Abbott claims that:

'another reason for terminating participation is what he said is the high level of fraudulent jobless claims being filed.'
