Fireworks sales are getting closer as July 4th is only just a few short weeks away, but vendors still have to submit the proper paperwork.

The Texas State Fire Marshal's Office requires all potential vendors interested in having a firework display to apply for a permit. The Class B Fireworks (1.3G) Singular or Multiple Display permit -- firework display permit -- must be filled out, along with the permit fees to be paid for no later than Friday, June 24th.

Firework display applications can be mailed in, but with the cut off date being just a couple of weeks away, potential vendors could opt in for a much faster delivery option that comes with an extension and possible faster response time by emailing their applications to FMLicensing@tdi.texas.gov by 5 p.m. Thursday, June 30th. With an extra 6-day extension via email, payments will still have to be made by June 24th to be considered for receiving a permit.

Lubbock Fire Marshals say Lubbock has no local regulations for fireworks stands due to state law(s) and regulations being followed are at the state level.

In an interview with KFYO News, Lubbock Fire Marshals and Taren Perkins, public information officer with Lubbock Fire & Rescue, reminded residents that it's illegal to pop fireworks in the city limits. Citizens can go into the county to pop fireworks but must pick up after themselves, stay vigilant of their surroundings and take precautions by bringing a fire extinguisher and water to douse any shot off fireworks.
