Full Moon Fever in the Lone Star State! When to Watch in West Texas
West Texas is known for its skies, whether it's a colorful sunset or a clear start night.
The West Texas landscape is mostly flat lands with not much scenery. You can travel to some areas to find a better landscape but I'm in Midland so all I see is rigs and mesquite.

If you know the Midland area, you understand why I am obsessed with the sky. Catching a sunrise and sunset will always give you a sense of serenity, but a night sky in Texas, away from city lights, will leave you in peace.
If you think a starry night in Texas is amazing, a bright full moon seals the deal!
NEXT FULL MOON IN TEXAS
Keep your eyes on the sky because February 12, 2025, brings the next full moon.
This full moon is most commonly known as the "Snow Moon." The name origin came from February being one of the snowiest months of the year, especially through the Ohio River Valley and the eastern/central United States. Another point to the name is no other significant things are happening during this time of the year. There are no new blooming plants and nothing to harvest so snow is the best way to recognize this time of year.
The "Snow Moon" is also known by different names. According to the Farmers' Almanac, the Oneida tribe of upstate New York and the Great Lakes region call this the "Midwinter Moon" while the Mahican tribe of the northeastern United States and into Wisconsin call it the "Deep Snow Moon"
"SNOW MOON" AT ITS FULLEST
The moon will hit its full moon phase at 7:53 AM CT. If you want to catch it at night, it will appear full the night before and after its peak.
