Social media has introduced us to so many trends throughout the years. I have had my fair share of hobbies, which I temporarily picked up due to a viral video. One trend that took off like wildfire is dumpster diving and it quickly spread through Texas.

The problem with a hobby of this sort is that you are dealing with other people's property. Because of that, I looked up whether it's legal in Midland or Odessa to dumpster dive, because you never know when you want to just dive in.

The tricky part about this subject is it can differ from city to city. Texas state law says it's legal to dumpster dive as long as you aren't on private property. You may think you are in the clear but that is not quite the case locally.

Here in the Permian Basin, it is a city ordinance violation to dumpster dive. The police have urged the public not to dumpster dive and that it is considered a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $2,000.

If that didn't convince you, allow me to tell you a little something that happened in Odessa back in 2022. A woman was dumpster diving when the garbage truck picked up the dumpster she was in. Unbeknownst to the sanitation worker, she was stuck in the back of the garbage truck for 2 hours!

I don't know about you but I don't want to be stuck in the back of a garbage truck for two hours. No amount of salvageable garbage is worth that!

Texas has an estimated 7.2 million dogs, more than any other state. But perhaps you’re interested in branching out a bit and adding a less common exotic pet to your home.

Granted a few of these exotics are regulated and will require permits.
