Since its opening, it has been a hotspot for friends, families, and even couples on a date night.  Initially, the drive-in opened in 2005 with only two screens but added a third screen to compensate for its popularity two years later in 2007.

Something that can be appreciated by all ages, the drive-in pays homage to the classic drive-in era by maintaining a vintage look and feel.  Whether movies are enjoyed from the comfort of your car or on a picnic blanket, a movie under the stars is an experience that can only be described as unforgettable.

After the sun goes down and the screens fire up the drive-in offers a traditional concession stand that serves burgers, hot dogs, popcorn, candy, sweets, and ice-cold soda.  Snacks from the concession have grown into an absolute must when watching any of the double features that are being showcased.  To some, it enhances the overall vibe of the experience.

The first drive-in movie theaters opened in 1933- while hitting its peak of popularity in the 1950s and 1960s.  However, the rapid decline in traditional drive-in theaters didn't happen until the 1980's.  Since then, the notion of being able to watch a movie from your vehicle has grown more and more rare in 2025.  It is nice to see that there are still companies that respect and embody a piece of traditional Americana.  The Big Sky Drive-In is a place that everyone in Midland-Odessa should check out for themselves.
