Leading up to moving to Midland-Odessa I assumed that there wouldn't be a wide variety of good bars to choose from.  After all, I coming here from San Antonio, a place that has no shortage of places to frequent if you want to get a drink with a great vibe.

When I did finally make the move I had some trouble finding a good spot that I liked.  It wasn't until a friend of mine flew into town that I really dove deep into finding somewhere to take her.  That's when a friend told me about the Midland basement bars downtown.  I was intrigued.  We have basement bars in San Antonio, so I was excited to check them out.

Sip Haus

Sip Haus is an upscale cocktail bar is located in the basement of the iconic Bank of America building downtown.  Known for their unique and flashy cocktails, this spot seemed perfect for a date night.  Their Instagram is filled with enticing drinks and alluring food that would make both locals and out-of-towners want to try them.

Leesco's

I honestly didn't know how to feel when I heard about a 70s-themed bar in the heart of downtown Midland. This was something that I had to experience first-hand.  Their Instagram shows what looked like a fun atmosphere mixed in with 70s decor and traditional Americana.

Conclusion

Personally, if I had to choose between the two, Sip Haus would get my vote on which I thought was the better of the two establishments.  Surprisingly, my date liked Leesco's more.  She said Sip Haus was very nice but felt like it had same feel as any of the upscale bars we frequented often in San Antonio.  She enjoyed the 70s theme that Leesco's had going on.  That actually shocked me, but needless to say, we both had a VERY good time at both bars. ;)
