Am I the Only One Who Had Never Seen Urban Cowboy?

So I’m minding my own business here at the station when I notice two of our lovely female employees suddenly very excited about something.

Naturally being a single male, I instinctively want to know what attractive girls around me are getting excited about because , well duh. They go on to tell me about our new party in march called “One Night at Gilley’s” and much like many of you, I’ve got nothing but question marks floating above my head as if I were a baffled comic character in the Sunday funnies.

My first question was, “Who’s Gilley and why do I want to spend the night with him?” From the shocked look on their faces you would have thought I just told them I ate a puppy for breakfast then a kitten for lunch as they both screamed “OMG YOU HAVEN’T SEEN URBAN COWBOY!!!???!!”

Now Fellas I’m going to let you in on a little secret, you may not like a lot of things the ladies are excited about but, it would greatly benefit you to pay attention to things girls get THAT excited about. So I watched it.

The 80s cowboys apparently were a lot more open about their dress code back then I would assume from the bad guy in this movie who strolls into a very crowded night club (Gilley’s) with his hat down over his eyes looking for trouble IN A FISH NET SHIRT!! Bold move good sir. Bold move indeed.

Now, keep in mind that I use the term “bad guy” very loosely in this blog because for the first hour and a half of this movie there doesn’t appear to be a good guy. Travolta is a complete douche canoe to “Sissy” the female lead character so she ends up being with “fish net guy” who also treats her like complete crap!

I won’t say any more about the movie in case you’d care to watch it but I will close with this. Gilley’s is a night club. Gilley’s is ALWAYS poppin! Hot girls love Urban Cowboy. I love hot girls. I want to spend one night at Gilley’s.
