There is something about everything being bigger in Texas!

⬇️KEEP SCROLLING: TO SEE ABANDONED MILITARY BASES IN TEXAS⬇️

Texans take pride in being known for going big and most will play into it. I was born and raised in West Texas, so I can back up this with my over 30 years of life.

Dam In Cisco, TX

I came across a video on Instagram that caught my eye.

According to the video, oil was struck in Cisco in the early 1900s and the city got a huge boom. The city couldn't keep up with the water demand of all the new people coming to the city so they decided to build a dam to create a reservoir.

The damn is 152 feet tall and 1000 ft long. They used 2 million pounds of reinforced steel and 65,000 barrels of cement.

World's Largest Concrete Swimming Pool

After the dam was finished, there was enough water for the influx of new residents in Cisco. They decided to build a concrete pool.

This is known to be the world's largest concrete swimming pool. The deep end of the pool was 25 feet with a 40-foot tall wooden high dive. It also had a huge water slide and a swing set in the middle of the pool

The kicker is this pool has been abandoned since the 1970s.

The concrete pool remains open for visitors, along with an abandoned zoo nearby. A trail guides you through the zoo and ultimately leads to the pool.

Check out the video below of the world's largest concrete pool:

10 Abandoned Military Bases in Texas

Texas is a big state and over the years many military bases have been scattered all over. However, many of those military bases have been closed and either crumbled to the ground with their skeletal remains or have been transformed into other uses.
