Story Of The Last A-10 Heritage Flight in Midland-Odessa
Midland-Odessa got a very special treat late in 2024. It happened during the High Sky Wing Airshow that was held at the Midland International Air & Space Port last September. So what was so special about it? This event marked the final Heritage flight of the A-10 Warthog in Texas.

The A-10 Thunderbolt II, designated the "Warthog" is a U.S. military attack aircraft that is mostly known for its ruggedness and high survivability rate. The most noticeable thing about the Warthog is that is packs a ginormous nose-mounted 30mm GAU-8/A Avenger rotary cannon. A weapon that has instilled fear from anyone who is on the receiving end of it.
The heritage flight program was a program that was put into place that tributes to the history and legacy of U.S. Airforce aircraft. Originating in 1987, it showcased aircraft from yesteryear from famous WWII planes all the way to more modern jets. In its 17 year run, the program traveled to all parts of the country conducting airshows and educating the general public about the history and accolades of a wide array of featured aircraft from past and present.
The High Sky Wing Airshow held back in September 2024 was the final Heritage campaign run in Texas. Midland-Odessa was a perfect place for a proper send off of such a legendary program that has been enjoyed by thousands of Americans all around the United States.
The video shown above is from that final Heritage show and displayed how amazing the pilots, aircraft, and the program was!
