The “Navy Girl” from a previous blog is officially deployed. She’s out on a ship in places I’m not allowed to talk about and the poor thing is terrified.

This is her first deployment and (like me) isn’t completely fond of being on large ships in the middle of the ocean she’s coming to find out. She’s handling it like a G though. She lost her wallet on the plane heading out and I don’t know if you’ve ever been stranded out of town because you lost your debit card but it isn’t a fun time. Imagine being out of the country on a moving ship with no money and no certain way to get it. The things our men and women of the military go through on deployment are far beyond the obvious things we see on the news or our friends who have been there tell us about. Don’t take this for granted.

Luckily I had a chance to go visit her in Florida before she left. We had an amazing time and probably covered most of the state on our adventures together lol. From Mayport Naval Station to Jacksonville to Cocoa Beach to Daytona. We ate amazing food, drank a ton of drinks, maybe too many drinks lol. The last day was the best though. We woke up across the street from Daytona Speedway and decided to look up a random place to eat. She found a place called Raintree in St. Augustine that was about 40 miles away. As it turns out, St. Augustine is AWESOME! A bit touristy but still a ton of fun none the less. We ate brunch at the Raintree which was this amazing upscale place right in the heart of the historical district of the city. This restaurant was almost all glass from where we were seated so as we ate we looked and commented on the gorgeous city around us and decided to randomly walk around after eating.

As luck would have it, we walked about three blocks before finding a scooter rental place where you could cruise the town and the beach for $15 an hour then just bring it back when you were done, SOLD!! Needless to say, it made for a perfect end to an almost perfect trip. I’m not happy with airlines currently but that’s another story for another day. Here are some pics from our trip.
