For as long as I can remember, my mother would visit La Casa Verde Nursery in Odessa to get her plants and everything to go with when it was time to plant flowers. If we were making a grocery run in Odessa, you can bet momma was going to stop to grab either something to plant or something that would help her do so. Well, the end of an era has come as I discovered recently that it has permanently closed.

I'm not in that area too often, so when I did venture to Andrews Highway in Odessa recently, I had to do a double take. It was one of those wait a minute, what is missing here moments.

All that remains is an empty lot and I can't even tell you how long it has been this way? I need to get out more. lol  Who remembers going with your parents when you were younger to browse the plants, flowers, little gifts, mulch, and anything needed to get ready for the spring season? La Casa Verde Nursery has been a staple in Odessa for a very long time and as you can see on the sign, they are thanking Odessa for many years of patronage.

So there is me driving around, sticking out my neck to see what may be going in its place? Lo and behold between the trees and in the midst of the mess I see this sign.
