Summer 2021 is pretty much here. After this week, I believe that all schools in the 432 and surrounding areas will be out for summer! Cheers from kiddos, jeers from parents. lol While many are busy planning summer vacations, VBS, summer camps, play dates, swim lessons and all of the in-between, here is something to take into consideration as a way to encourage your kids to give back to their community this summer as well.

The annual Planet Troopers event is coming up quickly on June 1st. This event is sponsored by First Basin Credit Union and is in its fifth year. In conjunction with Keep Odessa Beautiful, parents and their children have the opportunity to participate in 'cleaning up the community' together.

Children between the ages of 8 to 12 can clean up between June 1st through June 11th. Then on Saturday June 12th, a celebration will take place from 9 am to 12 noon at La Margarita Festival Grounds at 1261 W. Monahans st. complete with food, fun activities and door prizes for those who participated.

Anyone who participates, has the option to clean up around their neighborhood, a park or around their home.
