DJ Khaled Wins Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song at the 2017 American Music Awards [WATCH]
The 2017 American Music Awards are tonight in Los Angeles. Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, this year's awards are taking place at the Microsoft Center and some big names in hip-hop and R&B are up for some major nominations. Early in the night, DJ Khaled took home the award for Best Song (Rap/Hip-Hop.)
"God is the greatest," Khaled said when he took the stage. "God, I love you--thank you so much, Im so grateful for you. I wanna thank my son, the executive producer. Asahd, we did it, boy!"
Khaled also gave a shout-out to his wife ("I want to thank my queen, Nicole") and his parents; as well as We the Best Music Group, Epic Records, Roc Nation and a host of collaborators like Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper and JAY-Z, before announcing, I"m back in the studio, too!"
"I'm the One" is also nominated in the best Collaboration of the Year category. Khaled admitted earlier this weekend that he was hopeful the song would win.
“I’m praying that we take home that trophy,” Khaled told ET at Variety’s Hitmakers luncheon in Los Angeles on Saturday, where he was honored alongside Kendrick Lamar and Hailee Steinfeld. “But either way, I’m grateful for the nomination[s].”
The 2017 AMAs air live on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
