DaBaby to Release New Album Blame It on Baby This Friday
DaBaby is dropping a new album this week.
After leaving fans guessing for hours on Tuesday (April 14), DaBaby has confirmed that he will be releasing a new album titled, Blame It on Baby, this Friday. Baby made the official announcement via an informercial parody video uploaded to his Instagram page Tuesday evening.
“Have you been in any type of accident at any point in your life and suffered physical or emotional injuries of any kind? If so, you can blame it on baby,” the clip begins. The visual then shows people offering testimonies of unfortunate events that have happened in their lives, as they place blame on the North Carolina rapper.
Towards the end of the video is when it's confirmed that Baby is dropping an album. "Starting this Friday, when his new album drops, stop stressing and blame it on baby,” the voiceover in video says. The clip closes out with a snippet of a record, which will likely appear on the album. "I’m like fuck it, let the beat build nigga/I do my own thing ain’t worried ‘bout how he feel, nigga/let’s go,” Baby raps on the song.
DaBaby released the title of his upcoming album, as well as the album artwork on Tuesday afternoon. However, it was unclear at that time whether or not he would be dropping a new song, project or album. The cover art features an image of the 28-year-old rapper wearing a protective mask, in reference to the coronavirus pandemic. He captioned the photo, '“BLAME IT ON BABY” 💿THIS FRIDAY MF #ImCutLikeDat."
Prior to announcing Blame It on Baby, the rapper cryptically teased that his fans should expect some new music on Friday. On Monday (April 13), he tweeted, "THIS FRIDAY!" DaBaby dropped his latest single, "Find My Way," which could appear on the album as well, dropped on April 1 and has over 14 million streams, according to Hits Daily Double.
The 2019 XXL Freshman's most recent album, Kirk, was released on Sept. 27, 2019. The 13-track album features appearances from Kevin Gates, Chance The Rapper, Migos, Lil Baby, MoneyBagg Yo, Nicki Minaj and more. Six months prior, DaBaby dropped his debut album, Baby on Baby, which was certified gold on July 16, 2019.
