I bet you think my job is all fun and games don’t you. Well for the most part you’re right. One question I get asked a lot is “How did you get into radio?” That’s actually a really good question.
Most people go to school for broadcasting and spend a good long while honing their craft. With me, when you listen to B93 in the afternoons basically you’re just hearing the inner workings of someone screaming “HOLY CRAP HOW’D I GET ON THE RADIO” on the inside. Now that’s not to say that it’s easy to get here. I have worked my entire life to be an entertainer. I just wasn’t sure (until about 3 years ago) how I wanted to entertain. I got on the radio simply because despite working long hours at a job I hated, I never stopped doing what I loved to do. I did tons of videos on youtube and finally the right person saw them.

This has resulted in an INSANE amount of awesomeness. This job definitely has some amazing perks. One of which was last weekend at Permian Basin Comic Con when the gentleman putting it on (Chris Slatosch) put me on the panel to ask Sean Schemmel (Voice of Goku in Dragon Ball Z) some questions. I’m not sure how to explain how awesome this was for me. If you were a comedian who idolized Richard Pryor and one day you were asked if you’d like to interview him . . . yeah it was like that. Voice actors to me are a very big deal. I do a ton of voices and I love people who have made a career out of it.
Take actor Mark Hamill for example. Most people know him as Luke Skywalker from Star Wars. I know him as the voice of The Joker from the cartoons when I was a kid and also in the Batman Arkham video game series. . Dragon Ball Z was one of my favorite shows growing up. Needless to say I fan girled all over myself.  As it turns out, Sean Schemmel IS FROM ODESSA!!! He went to the same schools as me and grew up about 6 blocks from where I grew up. San Jacinto Elementary represent! The best part is, I got to share it all with my son. He was there to see it all and he thinks I might be the coolest person on the planet now. . . . Aside from Goku lol. Here’s a couple of pics taken by Chris Slatosch at the event. Luckily he’s also a professional photographer and was there to take pics because I was too caught up in the moment to think about getting my camera out.
