A third Midland resident, and former Midland County jailer, has been charged with participating in the January 6th insurrection and riot at the Capitol.

According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, Cory Ray Brannan was previously a Midland County Sheriff's Office jailer, but now he has been arrested and charged for his participation in the January 6th riot at the Capitol.

Brannan was photographed with other rioters outside the Capitol in tactical gear and patches identifying him with a far right extremist militia movement called the "Three Percenters."

The affidavit shows other photos of him climbing through a window on security footage inside the Capitol and other footage shows him walking around the Capitol building for several minutes, then exiting out the Senate Wing Door.

A captain at the Midland County Sheriff's Office identified Brannan in multiple photos in and around the Capitol provided by the FBI.

The FBI obtained a warrant for Brannan's phone records which proved he had been in contact with several people inside the Capitol on January 6th.

The MRT had the following to say about the charges Brannan faces:

"Brannan is facing charges of knowingly entering or remaining on restricted grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building, violent entry or disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. Those charges are class A and B misdemeanors punishable by a total of up to three years in prison."

Brannan appeared before Western District of Texas Judge Ronald C. Griffin after his arrest on Tuesday and released on a personal recognizance bond the same day according to court records.

Brannan is the third Midland resident charged with the January 6th riot at the Capitol along with Jenny Cudd and Eliel Rosa.
