With just a few more days left until Halloween, folks all around Texas are making last minute preparations for trick or treating and Halloween parties.
With just the weekend left before the big day, lots of us are scrambling for last minute Halloween costume ideas too. In fact, according to Statista, most of us spend just a little over an hour on our costumes once we decide what we want to be.
One thing that isn't clear though is how old is to old to trick or treat?
In a recent article published by Sheknows, the topic of how old is to old to trick or treat is explored. “It really depends on the individual child, their peer group and the neighborhood where they live as to what is acceptable,” one child psychologist explains.
Well, for the most part, I've spent my Halloweens in Texas and I can share that Texans have strong opinions, even it seems, when it comes to how old is to old for Halloween.
As a mother of a tall child, we over heard someone tell our son when he was ten that he was too old to be trick or treating and as his mom, I could see that his feelings were hurt, even from behind the mask. It was everything I had not to turn into a witch that Halloween!
Is ten too old?
Hearing "You are to old for this" from the door of the house after you just gave your best 'Trick or treat" is tough any kid to hear, especially when you consider that often we tell kids to stay young as long as they can!
In fact, an informal poll of nearly 3,000 readers by the Today Show indicated that 76 percent of people do not think there should be an age limit for trick-or-treating.
That time between being a kid and a teen comes with some ups and downs, especially during holidays like Halloween. They might feel too old to trick or treat, but too young for grown up Halloween parties.
Is there a legal age limit in Texas to stop youngsters from trick or treating?
No. There is not.
